Pengertian Tool Steels :

Baja perkakas adalah  baja yang digunakan terutama untuk membuat alat yang digunakan dalam manufaktur dan perdagangan untuk kerja dan pembentukan logam, kayu, plastik, dan lainnya bahan industri.

Peralatan harus menahan beban spesifik yang tinggi, sering terkonsentrasi pada daerah yang, mungkin harus beroperasi pada suhu yang tinggi atau berubah dengan cepat dan

kontak terus-menerus mengalami  abrasif dari bahan kerja, dan sering mengalami guncangan,

Penggunaan Tool Steels :

Tools for less demanding uses, such as ordinary hand tools, including hammers, chisels,files, mining bits, etc., are often made of standard AISI steels that are not considered as belonging to any of the tool steel categories.

The steel for most types of tools must be used in a heat-treated state, generally hardened and tempered, to provide the properties needed for the particular application. The adapt-ability to heat treatment with a minimurn of harmful effects, which dependably results in the intended beneficial changes in material properties, is still another requirement that tool steels must satisfy.

To meet such varied requirements, steel types of different chemical composition, often produced by special metallurgical processes, have been developed. Due to the large num-ber of tool steel types produced by the steel mills, which generally are made available withproprietary designations, it is rather difficult for the user to select those types that are mostsuitable for any specific application, unless the recommendations of a particular steel pro-ducer or producers are obtained.

BAJA PERKAKAS ( TOOL STEEL) :

Baja perkakas  untuk penggunaan yang tidak memerlukan syarat yang tinggi, seperti perkakas tangan biasa, termasuk palu, pahat, file, bit penambangan, dll., Sering dibuat dari baja AISI standar yang tidak termasuk dalam baja perkakas.

Baja perkakas untuk sebagian besar arus digunakan dalam keadaan diberi perlakuan panas, umumnya dikeraskan dan ditempa, untuk memenuhi sifat yang diperlukan dalam  aplikasi tertentu.

Untuk memenuhi persyaratan  operasi yang bervariasi, baja  perkakas memiliki  komposisi kimia yang berbeda, diproduksi dengan proses metalurgi khusus, telah dikembangkan. Karena banyaknya jenis alat baja yang diproduksi oleh pabrik baja, yang umumnya dibuat tersedia dengan sebutan tertentu, agak sulit bagi pengguna untuk memilih jenis yang paling cocok untuk aplikasi tertentu, kecuali rekomendasi khusus pro-ducer atau produsen baja perkakas.
